Through the generosity of our national corporate sponsors, TECH CORPS is able to offer these resources to educators across the country.

webTeacher is a free, self-paced Internet tutorial offering basic and in-depth information on how to access and use the Internet in your classroom. Created by two teachers from Tennessee and the TECH CORPS webmaster, webTeacher is a teaching and learning tool that is useful for anyone, but specifically designed for teachers. Sponsored by Hewlett-Packard Company techs4schools is an online mentoring program that connects educators with volunteer industry experts who provide technology advice and support. The program harnesses the power of the World Wide Web to deliver personalized, one-on-one technical help and counsel to teachers and schools regardless of geographic or demographic barriers. It vastly increases the number of volunteer experts who can help educators and reaches out to fill the void for technical advice and assistance at schools for which face-to-face mentoring would be impossible. Skills4Success is a program that empowers volunteers to mentor students and provide them with the soft skills they need to successfully compete in and contribute to the information technology workforce. Volunteers, managed by TECH CORPS in close collaboration with teachers and school districts, mentor youth along eight skill sets needed for success in the workplace and life. The program, jointly developed by TECH CORPS and Cisco Learning Institute, is implemented by engaging the students with the volunteers on a regular basis through online lesson plans, practicum exercises, and additional resources.

Skills4Success is currently being piloted in numerous schools throughout Seattle, Baltimore and Houston and will be available nationally in September 2003. Following the completion of this pilot phase, the training and curriculum will be available online and is designed to be applicable in a variety of school-to-career settings.
