Fundraising and Grantwriting

The Internet and the World Wide Web are an excellent place to research grants. Grant proposal deadlines are absolute, so finding the most up-to-date information is essential. So here are some good places to start.

The Council of Chief State School Officers(CCSSO) -- A national organization representing state-level educational leaders across the nation. If you're trying to learn more about technology initiatives in your own or neighboring states, or looking for the right state-level people to contact for more information, this Web site might be a good place to start.

Yahoo -- Yahoo, one of the most comprehensive databases of Web sties on the World Wide Web, has a site for listing educational grants. Included are links to organizations such as Carnegie Corporation of New York, the National Endowment for Humanities, and the Sloan Foundation, as well as links to support services and grant proposal guides.

U.S. Department of Education - Grant programs at the U.S. Department of Education, and some tips on how to apply.

The Foundation Center's User Friendly Guide for Internet Users -- If you are a first time grantseeker, a new nonprofit staff or board member, or a volunteer for your favorite charity, this online guide was created with you in mind. It is intended both as a basic primer on the grantseeking process and as an introduction to the resources available.

The Foundation Center -- Our previous entry's parent organization, we'll let them tell you who they are: "an independent nonprofit information clearinghouse established in 1956. The Center's mission is to foster public understanding of the foundation field by collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating information on foundations, corporate giving, and related subjects. The audiences that call on the Center's resources include grantseekers, grantmakers, researchers, policymakers, the media, and the general public." Search no further, it is all here.
