Telnet
We have seen that the Internet implements the TCP/IP protocol to allow computers to converse with each other over networks. In order to take advantage of this, we must have software running on our computers that respects TCP/IP protocol. The first example of such software that we consider is called telnet. As we shall see, telnet allows us to log into a distant computer supporting TCP/IP protocols almost as if we were actually sitting physically at that computer.
