Welcome to webTeacher, a self-paced Internet Tutorial that puts both basic and in-depth information about the World Wide Web at your fingertips - just a mouse click away!

E-mail, video conferencing, chat rooms, Web page design, Internet safety, curriculum searches - you choose the topic you want to explore, you choose your own pace, you choose the depth of knowledge you desire, and webTeacher guides you through the information. Then, because webTeacher is an interactive guide, you get to put your new knowledge to work immediately through the online exercises and activities.

webTeacher can be your own private tutor - or it can be the basis for group instruction. You may wish to go sequentially through the full Tutorial by beginning with Web Basics - or you may wish to access specific information on any given topic. It's all up to you! And because TECH CORPS is providing it to you as an online resource, it's available to you at no charge, 24 hours a day.

webTeacher was created by two teachers from Tennessee, Mike and Jo Ann Guidry, and by TECH CORPS WebMaster Wayne Kincaid, who brought together their Internet knowledge and classroom experiences to develop a training tool useful for anyone, but designed specifically for teachers. Through extensive field tests giving teachers hands-on use of the program, the tutorial was refined and enhanced to address those things which would help you to use the Internet in your classroom.

The information in webTeacher is presented in six chapters:

— Web Basics
— Communicating Online
— Multimedia
— Homepage Construction
— Peripherals and Utilities
— The Web in Your Classroom

We hope that you will browse through and enjoy using all of the information offered.

TECH CORPS is pleased to provide educators across the country with webTeacher as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting K-12 schools as they bring technology into the classroom.
