What led you to TECH CORPS, and how did it shape your path?
A teacher at the Cleveland School of Science and Medicine High School, where I graduated in 2023, recommended me for TECH CORPS because he knew I was into tech. I was already interested in web development, and the program gave me the foundation I needed. It inspired me to start designing websites and turned that passion into a business.
How did TECH CORPS help you launch a business in high school?
After completing Student WEB CORPS in 2022, I used Instagram to promote my web design work. It was my senior year, and lots of students were launching creative prom-related businesses. I made my first site using a free domain from TECH CORPS for a friend who sold African waist beads. From there, it took off.
What TECH CORPS memory stands out as most meaningful?
I was the project lead for our final website, and the client wanted full e-commerce functionality. It took us two weeks to figure out how to process payments—we almost gave up. But with the help of our instructors, we pushed through, and the site is still live. That experience taught me resilience.
How did TECH CORPS influence your education and career goals?
I’m pursuing a degree in Secondary Education at the University of Cincinnati, where I’m also minoring in Information Systems. Through Student WEB CORPS, I was introduced to tools like Canva and Schoology, which opened my eyes to the role tech can play in education. Now, I can help schools integrate these platforms or design custom systems tailored to their needs.
What lasting lessons from TECH CORPS still guide you today?
I returned to TECH CORPS as an instructor in both 2023 and 2024. The program helped me grow as a student, mentor, and entrepreneur. I’m now designing the first-ever website for my fraternity chapter. I’m truly grateful for everything TECH CORPS has taught me.
