What led you to TECH CORPS and how did it shape your path?
My mom signed me up for Student WEB CORPS, which gave me my first real exposure to coding and opened up a whole new side of tech. From there, I became known as “the computer guy” at school. That path eventually led me to earn my CompTIA certification through Downtown High School and TECH CORPS.
What TECH CORPS experiences shaped your education path?
One experience that stands out was Student TECH CORPS, where we built computers from scratch. That hands-on experience made me want to keep learning and pushed me to study computer science at Ohio University. I knew the university had a strong program, and I wanted to grow my skills.
Are there any people or moments from TECH CORPS that really stood out?
I still remember the instructors I met during different programs and how I kept seeing those same people at other TECH CORPS events. That continuity made a big impact on me. It showed me the importance of staying connected and how much value comes from giving back to the community.
How does TECH CORPS continue to influence you?
I am currently a student at Ohio University and also work as a TECH CORPS instructor. The values I learned through TECH CORPS show up in everything I do. I use what I call the TECH CORPS process, similar to the scientific method: observe, make a hypothesis, test it, and refine. That mindset helps me far beyond tech.
What’s the long-term value of TECH CORPS?
It is the mix of skills, certifications like CompTIA, and relationships. You gain practical tools, confidence, and a network of people who keep challenging and supporting you. TECH CORPS gives you more than just training. It connects you to a community that helps you keep learning and moving forward.
