At TECH CORPS, we believe that when professionals share their stories, students see what’s possible. That’s exactly what happened when Google professionals Charles Tracy and JoJo Brighton, both Data Center Technicians, volunteered their time and insights with high school students in our Computing Career Corps program.
Computing Career Corps is a dynamic, hands-on program that introduces students to a variety of in-demand technical skills, including programming, web and app development, and core software and hardware concepts. But beyond the curriculum, the exposure to real-world tech professionals truly brings the experience to life.
Charles and JoJo visited TECH CORPS classrooms to speak with students for 20–30 minutes, sharing their personal journeys into the tech field, their current roles at Google, and what a typical day looks like in one of the world’s most influential tech companies. Through open Q&A and authentic storytelling, these Googlers offered a valuable window into the professional world of technology and highlighted the different paths that can lead to a successful career in tech.
Their participation energized and informed the students and helped them earn Work-Based Learning hours, an essential step toward workforce readiness. From discussing their own learning curves to emphasizing the importance of problem-solving and continuous growth, Charles and JoJo left a lasting impression.
At TECH CORPS, we’re grateful for our partnership with Google and volunteers like Charles and JoJo, who directly bring their experience and encouragement to the next generation of innovators.
Together, we’re building a world where every student has the skills, confidence, and opportunities for a successful future.
