What first led you to TECH CORPS, and how did it shape your time in school?
In my sophomore year at Oberlin High School, a tech support class landed in my schedule and changed everything. It introduced new terms and hands-on work that sparked my interest. I started building computers at home and turned it into a hobby that pushed me deeper into problem solving.
Which TECH CORPS experiences guided your education and career choices?
TECH CORPS showed me that learning is through trial and error. At MCPC, mentors let us troubleshoot, tour the building, and see real roles. Seeing that world up close confirmed that tech support fits me.
Who or what from TECH CORPS most influenced your path, and why?
MCPC stood out for its people. I met Ms. Genese Sarratt, and the founder often stopped in to talk with us. Through those connections I was referred to an interview at their cybersecurity building. Networking gave me confidence and opened doors I never expected.
What are you doing now, and how does TECH CORPS still show up in your studies?
I had to withdraw last semester after a car accident, so my plans were delayed. I am excited to return next year and finish what I started. I am studying computer science at Lorain County Community College, and I truly love it.
How would you describe TECH CORPS long-term value to someone considering it?
Early exposure matters. Even simple familiarity with tech terms can spark a journey. Thank you, TECH CORPS, for giving students like me access to tools and parts we might not see otherwise.
