How did you first get involved with TECH CORPS?
My journey with TECH CORPS began in fifth grade after moving to Lorain County. My parents were looking for something to keep me engaged, so I enrolled in Techie Camp, which focused on 3D printing. At the time, 3D printing felt like science fiction, something only big tech companies used. Getting hands-on experience as a kid was unforgettable.
What experiences through TECH CORPS shaped your career interests?
The TECH CORPS hackathon stands out most. That was the first time I learned SWIFT, and I have been building on that skill ever since. I loved the balance of teaching and learning at the same time. That event sparked my interest in app development and steered me toward a future in cybersecurity and networking.
Where are you now in your education and career path?
I am finishing my networking and cybersecurity degree at the University of Akron. Last semester, I had a public speaking class, and all I could think about was TECH CORPS. Presenting to live audiences and teaching during programs gave me a huge head start. I felt completely prepared and confident speaking in front of others.
What lasting impact has TECH CORPS had on you?
Confidence, for sure. I used to be uncomfortable speaking in front of people, but now it is one of my strengths because of TECH CORPS. I also built strong relationships with students, instructors, and professionals in the tech field. The exposure and connections I made through programs and events continue to benefit me today.
What’s the long-term value of TECH CORPS, in your view?
TECH CORPS helped shape who I am today. I am grateful for the opportunities to learn, teach, network, and be part of a community that truly supports your growth. The skills, confidence, and connections I gained from TECH CORPS will stay with me throughout my career and beyond.
