What drew you to TECH CORPS in high school, and how did it shape your path?
After graduating from Whetstone High School in 2022, a teacher urged me to join TECH CORPS’ Tech Support program. I spent the summer as an intern, where I learned professional interviewing skills and core Information Technology (IT) concepts. That start opened doors in college and set my path in tech.

Which TECH CORPS moments guided your education and career choices?
My instructor, Jacob Owens, made a lasting impact. He shared his journey, helped me map mine, and kept in touch every few months. He coached me on meeting recruiters, refining my resume, and even offered referrals. Knowing someone believed in me helped to push me forward.

What standout experience or opportunity from TECH CORPS influenced you most?
I remember a hands-on Python lesson that changed everything. Writing code felt natural, almost like writing English. I kept learning in college, building small projects, and practicing problems. Mastering a solid computer language boosted my confidence and gave me the courage to interview with tech companies I thought were out of reach.

What are you doing now, and how does TECH CORPS show up in your work or studies?
I recently completed a software engineering internship at GoDaddy. The problem-solving skills and IT terminology I learned at TECH CORPS helped me think critically and deliver solutions quickly. I have also served as a researcher and SEO tech developer for The Ohio State University while pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Class of 2027.

What’s the long-term value of TECH CORPS?
TECH CORPS provided me with connections, a growth mindset, and skills that have stuck. Thoughtful instructors stayed in my corner. The program taught real workplace rhythm, from punctuality to managing a full day. Thank you, TECH CORPS, for getting the ball rolling and shaping my journey.
