Preparing students for the future is not work any one person or organization can do alone. It takes educators who inspire, volunteers who share their expertise, employers who open doors, donors who invest in opportunity, and community partners willing to bring people and resources together.

As students return to classrooms this fall, we are proud to celebrate a few people in the TECH CORPS community whose commitment advances our mission. Their stories show what’s possible when people come together around a shared belief in students and their potential. Together, they help young people build skills, increase confidence, explore careers, and imagine new possibilities for their futures.

Opal Brant, TECH CORPS Board Member and Volunteer, believes access to technology can open doors for students. After volunteering at a TECH CORPS Hackathon, she saw firsthand the importance of helping young people access meaningful, hands-on technology experiences.

Maria Spangler, Director of the Nordson Corporation Foundation and Community Relations, believes strong partnerships can help students prepare for what’s next. Educators Create Opportunities to Learn

Vicki Willett, Licking Heights Schools Educator, first connected with TECH CORPS through professional development, building her confidence in teaching tech. She went on to bring free TECH CORPS computer science lessons to nearly 20 classrooms and introduce Techie Camp to her district. Today, Vicki connects more educators and students with technology opportunities as her district’s tech integration specialist.

Jerry Berndobler, Student TECH CORPS Volunteer, served as a mock client to give students the opportunity to experience what it’s like to work with a real-world Principal IT Analyst at Nordson. Through the experience, Jerry provided valuable feedback and guidance while building meaningful connections with the next generation of technology talent.

Opportunity to Get Involved

Preparing students for the future takes all of us, and this fall, there’s another opportunity to play a part.

High school students from across Ohio will come together for a one-day challenge to explore how AI is shaping their world, create something original with a team, pitch their point of view, and win up to $200.
