Hi <<First Name>>,

As we say goodbye to 2022 and prepare to usher in the New Year, we want to pause to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of you. Because of your support, we have so much to celebrate! It has been an incredible year – we hope you will enjoy reading about some of the exciting happenings at TECH CORPS. We appreciate you and we hope you have a safe and wonderful holiday season!

Because of you, TECH CORPS is celebrating 128 programs serving nearly 2,500 K-12 students with high-quality Computer Science learning experiences in seven states. We are overjoyed that we were also able to provide 79 teachers with cutting-edge professional development and Computer Science curriculum. We also distributed over 3,000 TECH CORPS Unplugged kits to students and their families.

Consider ending 2022 with a tax-deductible gift through our secure portal to educate, excite and empower K-12 students in 2023 and beyond.

Computing Career Corps

We are recruiting Franklin County 9th & 10th graders to participate in the 2023 Computing Career Corps program! Students will explore 3D Printing, Coding, Robotics and more and will also learn about technology career paths. This program runs February-May, after school, one evening a week. Students who successfully complete the program will earn$400 or a new laptop. This free program is sponsored by the Franklin County Commissioners and administered by FCDJFS.

Thanks to our CSEdWeek partners, FirstEnergy Foundation and Hyland, nearly 10,000 students from across the nation explored Computer Science through our TECH CORPS Unplugged lessons. FIVE teachers each won $1,000 worth of computer science supplies for their classrooms: Mary Derflinger and Vicki Willett from Licking Heights Local Schools; Tina Kovach from Cleveland Metropolitan School District; and Beth Schwartz and Amanda Sears from Amherst Exempted Village Schools.

Hackathon Winners at the Statehouse

We celebrated our 2022 hackathon winners at the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and Ohio Statehouse on December 7th. Family, friends and lawmakers gathered to celebrate #CSEdWeek and our future technology leaders.

The students heard words of encouragement from Steve Stivers, CEO, Ohio Chamber of Commerce; Randy Gardner, Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education; Mike Duffey, Senior Vice Chancellor, Ohio Department of Higher Education; The Honorable Mary Lightbody, Ohio House of Representatives and were recognized by Senator Hearcal Craig on the Ohio Senate floor.

All this was made possible through the generosity of our hackathon sponsors, KeyBank, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners and CoverMyMeds.
