Look who is building, developing, and creating this summer! You’re invited to step inside our programs to see how we educate, excite and empower students with technology!

Exploring Data Analytics

Taryn and her friends are going under the sea to explore the world of data analytics! With support from Hyland, TECH CORPS has partnered with theTeaching and Learning Collaborative to develop elementary and middle school programs focused on data analytics.

Data Carnival camp is for 3rd-5th grade students. They learn how to collect data from various carnival-themed games. By diving into deep learning experiences, students increase their mathematical understanding. Students process the data cycle and use key concepts in data science to organize, analyze and visualize their findings.

Information Technology (IT) On Ramp

“My grandma owns a vegan restaurant. So, my game is about finding healthy food before the cheeseburger gets you,” explained Angel, a 9th grade student at IT On Ramp.This summer, TECH CORPS delivered 11 IT On Ramp programs in California,Colorado, Georgia and Ohio. IT On Ramp is an introduction to technology. Middle and high school students get hands-on with app and game development, cybersecurity and web design.

Student WEB CORPS

Student WEB CORPS launched in Illinois and Ohio with approximately200 high school students and 60 volunteers. This work-based learning experience is designed to strengthen students’ web development, project management and professionalism skills. Those skills are applied in the authentic task of building a website for a mock business.

This week, students will form their web development teams, meet their mock clients and begin building websites.

Volunteer Build

According to Independent Sector, tech volunteers are valued at $31.80 per hour. But we believe TECH CORPS volunteers are priceless! Nia McBride is a long-time TECH CORPS volunteer and has worked with grade school students at Techie Club. In the video, Nia talks about her volunteer experience with students.
