Whether you’re an out-of-school-time educator gearing up for summer fun or a parent eager for your student to dive into coding camps and robotics workshops, plunge into our May newsletter. Get ready to soak up the sun and the excitement of learning with TECH CORPS!

Still Time to Register

Are you an Ohio-based, out-of-school time educator preparing for an engaging summer filled with fun and learning for your 3rd to 8th grade youth?

Join us on Thursday, May 9th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm for a FREE session and leave with computer science activities and resources for your out-of-school time program!

During the TECH CORPS Unplugged sessions you’ll gain valuable strategies and resources for implementing “unplugged” technology activities with youth. No devices are required, allowing you to explore key concepts and activities creatively.

Selected participants will:

• leave with lessons for implementing computer science in your program
• obtain Ohio Approved credit (pending approval)
• receive a $100 stipend for completing the lessons with youth during summer programs and returning youth surveys
• have opportunities to participate in a CS-focused Community of Practice

Who should apply:

• Ohio out-of-school time educators who work directly with grade 3-8 youth

TECH CORPS offers programs for 3rd through 12th grade students in California, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, and Rhode Island. Explore our publicly accessible programs, each with specific eligibility criteria, through our PROGRAM search feature. Eric McKinley

TECH CORPS welcomes Eric McKinley to its National Executive Board of Directors. As the Senior Finance Director for Nordson Corporation’s Advance Technology Solution Segment, Eric understands technology’s impact and its importance for all students.

Through access to computer science education, TECH CORPS believes students can gain the knowledge and skills needed to be prepared for college or future careers. Eric values the practical workforce skills students acquire through TECH CORPS programs.

CodeNext Lessons Inspire Students’ Technology Exploration

Discover how TECH CORPS’ Computing Career Corps program enhances its 15-week afterschool curriculum with Google’s CodeNext lessons. Computing Career Corps introduces high school students from Franklin County, Ohio, to a variety of in-demand occupations in the field of technology, including cybersecurity, web development, game design, programming, and more. Students gain a solid understanding of the inner workings of technology and use their newly acquired skills and creativity to develop solutions and products.

Volunteers Needed:

Student WEB CORPS

We’re looking for 50+ tech volunteers to work with our high school students this summer.

Five hours of your time will make a BIG impact on our students. You’ll be the simulated client while students develop a website. Technical expertise isn’t a prerequisite; what matters most is your willingness to provide constructive feedback and encouragement. Please consider sharing your skills and empowering students.
