On January 21, 2025, student representatives from the winning teams of the 2024 TECH CORPS Hackathon stood proudly before the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, receiving well-deserved recognition for their innovation and hard work. The Board, a key sponsor of the statewide hackathon, commended the students for their achievements in technology and problem-solving.
Held in November 2024 across Akron, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, and Elyria, the TECH CORPS Hackathon brought together more than 300 students to learn mobile app development. Working in teams, they tackled real-world challenges by designing apps that aligned with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainability Goals.
At the Commissioners’ General Meeting, two students took center stage to present their apps, impressing the Board with their creativity and vision for a better future. Engaging in a thoughtful dialogue, the Commissioners asked insightful questions and praised the students for their contributions to the tech industry’s future. Their words of encouragement reinforced the importance of fostering young talent and expanding opportunities for underrepresented students in technology.
This recognition not only celebrated the students’ success but also highlighted the power of technology education in shaping the next generation of innovators.
