How did you first get involved with TECH CORPS?
I joined TECH CORPS in 2019 as a 10th-grade student at John Adams College & Career High School. Coding was not offered at my school, so when I heard about Student TECH CORPS, I jumped at the chance. I liked gaming and thought coding could be fun. That summer opened my eyes to web development and a career I had not considered before.
What TECH CORPS experiences influenced your college path?
In my senior year, I joined Student Web Corps and worked with simulated clients who treated us like professionals. One client was in Rome, so I had to manage emails across time zones while staying on top of deadlines. The program took place at Cleveland State University, where I got comfortable on campus and built connections with faculty.
Who made a lasting impact on you?
Mr. Trujilo, my instructor, made a huge difference. He adjusted his teaching style so everyone could succeed and encouraged us to help each other. That teamwork mindset stuck with me, shaping how I collaborate and support others today.
What’s a moment that stands out?
Three days before our final website presentation, our site completely crashed. We fixed it, and it came back online just 30 minutes before we had to present. That stressful moment taught me to stay calm under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines, no matter what.
How has TECH CORPS shaped your future?
Without TECH CORPS, I might never have found this career path. I am now studying computer science at Cleveland State alongside friends I met in the program. TECH CORPS showed me I had skills in something I love, gave me confidence, and introduced me to a supportive community I still rely on today.
