TECH CORPS imagines a world where every student has the skills, confidence, and opportunities to unlock the door to a successful future. Through our partnership with Google Code Next, we are bringing this belief to life by delivering career-connected computer science programming to high school students in Columbus, Ohio.
Code Next: A Launchpad for Tech Exploration
Launched by Google, Code Next is a free, tech and AI education program designed to inspire and equip high school students with the technical skills and confidence to pursue careers in tech. TECH CORPS has proudly served as a Google Code Next affiliate since 2023, integrating the curriculum in our Computing Career Corps (CCC).. CCC is funded by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners and administered by FCDJFS.
Students like Reda, a 10th grader at Metro Early College High School, are immersed in the world of game development using Code Next. “The Code Next Curriculum has taught me to persevere through challenges,” Reda shared. “Through the program, I’ve unlocked a different way of thinking and discovered numerous avenues to attack the same problem. This is a skill I can use in school and life.”

Inspiring Future Innovators
The creative possibilities within the Code Next curriculum spark not just technical learning, but also imagination. Claranelle, a 10th grader at Horizon Science Academy, has taken her game development skills to new heights.
“I’m inspired to build out my game,” she said. “Right now, my game is a basic ‘Mario Kart’-style game, but I have plans to personalize it by adding music, new obstacles, enemies, and multiple players. With the skills I’ve learned through Code Next, my imagination is the limit!”
The Power of Possibility
TECH CORPS instructors see the impact of the Code Next curriculum firsthand. Neha Gattineni, an Integrated Business and Engineering Honors Student at The Ohio State University, currently serves as a CCC instructor. She sees how Code Next enables her students to grow technically while staying true to themselves.
“Code Next gives my students the space to express themselves,” Neha said. “They are free to explore and create projects that reflect their personalities.”
Neha’s TECH CORPS journey began while she was still in high school at Olentangy Orange, where she completed a TECH CORPS internship. Her story is a powerful example of how early exposure to technology can ignite a lifelong passion.
