[Columbus, Ohio] [April 21, 2025] – TECH CORPS is proud to announce the promotion of Marcala Moore to Program Manager, Expansion Areas. Moore, who began her journey with TECH CORPS as an Intern while still a student at Bowling Green University, Ohio, has grown within the organization, serving as a Site Coordinator and Program Assistant. She is now taking on a leadership role in managing TECH CORPS programs to new regions nationwide as Program Manager.

TECH CORPS CEO Lisa M. Chambers expressed her enthusiasm for Moore’s promotion, stating, “TECH CORPS believes in supporting and growing talented individuals and I am excited to see Marcala step into this new leadership role and continue to make a lasting impact on students across the country.”

Moore’s passion for youth development was ignited in 2017 as a senior at Oberlin High School when she worked at a summer program called Playground. “That experience sparked my interest in youth development because I saw firsthand the impact that guidance and encouragement can have on a young person’s growth,” she shared.

While earning her degree from Bowling Green State University, Moore joined TECH CORPS as an intern, where she quickly connected with the nonprofit’s mission to deliver career-connected technology programs that create opportunities for K-12 students. “I was able to learn about our mission and see the impact it has on students who look like me,” she said. “My journey with TECH CORPS has been amazing. I’ve grown both professionally and personally, and I have TECH CORPS mentors to thank for that. They pushed me outside my comfort zone and believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself.”

“Watching Marcala grow and excel in every position she’s held at TECH CORPS has been an amazing journey to be a part of,” shared TECH CORPS Chief Operating Officer Carla Easley.

“Her dedication, passion, and commitment have not only shaped her success but have also inspired others around her. I’m beyond excited to continue to support her in her new role.”

In her new role as Program Manager, Moore will oversee TECH CORPS’ expansion efforts in states such as Georgia and Minnesota. Having traveled to expansion areas last summer to learn more about their unique needs, she is eager to build relationships with local educators, community organizations, and businesses to ensure the success of TECH CORPS programs. “Each region has its own opportunities, and I want to understand the specific needs of students in these communities so that we can tailor our programs to serve them effectively,” Moore explained.

One of the most significant opportunities she anticipates is securing support to sustain and grow the programs. “Connecting with local businesses and educators who believe in our mission is key. Once they understand the impact our programs have, I’m confident they will want to get involved,” she said.

Moore is particularly passionate about providing students historically underrepresented in technology with the confidence and opportunities to pursue careers in technology. “Many students feel like they don’t belong in this (tech) space, and that’s something I want to change,” she said. “Just because they lack access or resources doesn’t mean they should be left behind. Technology is advancing rapidly, and they deserve to be part of that future.”

Looking ahead, Moore envisions herself continuing to bridge the technology opportunity gap for students. “I want to keep opening doors for these students and making sure they have as many opportunities as possible,” she said.

Founded in 1995, TECH CORPS imagines a world where every student has the skills, confidence, and opportunities to unlock the door to a successful future. As the nation’s longest-running technology education nonprofit, TECH CORPS has empowered tens of thousands of students and educators nationwide.
