(Columbus, OH) – (April 22, 2025) State Representative Munira Yasin Abdullahi will visit TECH CORPS’ Computing Career Corps (CCC) program on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 4:30 p.m., at the TECH CORPS Office in Columbus. The visit will offer a unique opportunity for Rep. Abdullahi to engage directly with high school students from her district and see firsthand the innovative technology projects they’ve created, including original video games and websites.
Rep. Abdullahi, who began her public service career in the nonprofit space advocating for youth leadership and development, shares a similar background with many of the students she’ll meet. As the eldest of nine children—eight of them girls—she brings a powerful personal story that will resonate with students exploring their own career paths.
TECH CORPS’ Computing Career Corps (CCC) is a 15-week afterschool program where high school students build foundational tech skills in programming, web/app development, and hardware/software concepts. For many, it’s their first exposure to computer science. Participants earn Work-Based Learning hours and receive either a $400 stipend or a brand-new laptop upon successful completion of the program.
Visual Opportunity for Media:
Students will showcase the tech projects they’ve developed, including games and websites, while interacting with Rep. Abdullahi in a vibrant and hands-on learning environment.
